May News update

Posted in News on June 8th, 2010 by peterday

Well, it’s a little late but here’s what happened in May and yes, it was an eventful month!

We started with the second of our UK tours and were there for the first two weeks of the month returning on 12th. With 23 gigs under our belt from the UK, we returned to action straight away at Bar Carmen for the first time in 2010. Then on Friday we had the very special wedding of our fabulous friends Carol and Colin.  I was her “father” for the day and gave the bride away which was an honour.  Fiona and I both sang in the fantastic chapel at Rebate where the service took place and the acoustics were incredible.  No mics needed, it was an incridible sound in the building.  We also got to meet up with and sing with the fantastic Showaddywaddy Legends at the wedding.  They were just great as always.

Then on the Saturday we did the first of our new “Weekly” slots at the fantastic restaurant Casa Nicolas and on Sunday lunch time, the first of our now two two weekly gigs at Hoggies Restaurant in San Luis (no rest for the wicked)!!

On Friday 21st we had the last of our early part of the year tour dates with Ricky Valance at Los Arcos and what a night that was.  Another sell out and such a great show enjoyed by all attending.

Two other special things to report about May:  We had an absolutely fabulous night at Bar Vitto Restaurant in El Mojon on Wednesday 26th.  What a great place and such fantastic people.  The house was full and the night simply rocked from start to finish.  We have two new bookings later in the year for this venue and are really looking forward to seeing Tony, Jan and the staff there again.

Thanks to all of our new venues for making us so welcome and we hope to work with you successfully for a long time.

Special note concerning Casa Nicolas everyone:  This fantastic restaurant has reached the final two of the “best restaurant” competition and also, Nicolas has been nominated for best chef!  Win or not, we know that this restauarnt offer fantstic food at great value for money and are proud to be associated with everyone there.  Congrats guys!

Now for some other sad news really:  Wendy and Harry, our fabulous friends that had been running Bar Carmen for many years, have decided to retire from the place and take a well earned rest.  Well, they left at the end of May and we will miss them dearly as they were great to be around.  We know how tough it is in business these days and wish Wendy and Harry all the best as they venture into new activities etc.  They will remain in the area and we look forward to seeing them socially a lot more now.  Thanks guys for allowing us to work with you over the past two years and for being such good friends.

Antonio and Carmen (the name above the door) ar now running Bar Carmen and have asked us to stay on for Thusday evenings.  We wish them every success and are happy to be there and keep the momentum going at this great bar / restaurant.

We have avery interesting June ahead so keep checking the “live dates” guide and “news” listings because it will get very interesting!!
