End December 2009 Newsletter

Well, December was certainly a very active month with so much going on.  Having gone to the UK on 18th November, we were well into the gigs we had to do there by the beginning of the month.  Everything went to plan except for a few minor hitches right up until we had completed our last gig in Ely on Thursday 17th December.  We came out to find that the heavens had opened and three to four inches of  snow had fallen on incredibly icy roads around the fens.  Not a gritter in site and so the roads were in a very bad state and we had a very scary, dangerous drive to Cambridge that night and then on to Milton Keynes the next morning.  Arriving at Luton airport in plenty of time for the booked flight we were checked in only to find that about five hours later, all flights were cancelled and so we ended up not being able to return to Spain until two days later.  This mean’t we had to miss a gig at one of our favourite venues Casa Nicolas.  We apologise for that but really had little we could do except arrange for our great friends Jeannie and Kenny (Scandal) to cover the gig for us.  We are very grateful to them for doing it and know that they would have given a great show.

We were really pleased that we were invited to appear at the Russell Park Club in Bedford during the tour as it was our first show there.  The club had worked hard to promote the event and it was a 200 sell out!  The club were very happy and said it was the first time that 200 people had been there for an event in twenty years and it was also the best show that had been there in that time as well! The large dance floor was full from the first song and the night was a great success for all.  Despite equipment problems that mean’t we were “fighting fires” from the sound desk (even though the audience had no idea it was happening) throughout the evening, everyone had a great night that resulted in an immediate booking for next year at the club!

We had another exceptional night in Norfolk when we were invited to perform at a surprise birthday party for Rod who is a very big Elvis fan.  He had a number of other big Elvis fans at his party and was very excited about the event once he arrived and realised what his brother had arranged for him.  He said at the end that he and the other Elvis fans had been talking and had all agreed that even though they had seen many, many Elvis acts, our Elvis 2000 show was the best they had ever seen anywhere!  That was very much appreciated Rod and we were very pleased to be with you on your special occasion.

We would like to thank all of the venues that booked us for that tour.  We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2010.

So, all gigs in UK completed and eventually back to Spain, we were straight into Christmas Eve at Sizzling Punjab and Christmas day at Casa Nicolas.  Both were great and we really enjoyed them as did the merry Christmas revellers!

New Years Eve saw us at PALS Club another favourite venue of ours.  All tickets had been sold out and so the place was full.  We had a great time and so did the members.  It’s the first time we have ever celebrated New Year TWICE in one evening!!  Firstly at midnight (Spanish time) and then midnight (UK time) which of course was one hour later.  Doing the Big Ben chimes and Auld Lang Syne twice in the same evening was strange but, what a great night it was.

Well – It’s now 2010 and we move into an uncertain year for all.  Much will change as we enter the new year and decade.  We want to wish our venues, fans and friends all over Europe, the USA and the UK a very happy 2010.  We hope to see you all again very soon and trust that you will all keep well.
