Fiona McLean

FionaFiona was born into a musical family. Her aunt was a professional singer when she was young and her dad was rated the number one jazz trumpeter in Scotland before the family moved south to England in 1962. She grew up surrounded by Big Band music and this had a big influence on what she likes to sing today. Fiona sang her first solo at school, age six. Between church and school, she was always singing, not that she ever wanted to stop! If Fiona wasn’t singing with bands, she was playing instruments such as trumpet, sax, flute, horn and tuba with them. Years of playing these instruments helped her develop a very powerful singing voice.

At the age of seventeen, Fiona left school and toured with a singing group. Then, at nineteen she moved to Cambridgeshire. It was there she met some friends and formed a group called “The Travellers”. At this time she moved away from Big Band and discovered other styles of singing including country.

FionaAt the age of thirty, she went back to her roots with the Ambassador Big Band. She toured the UK for about six years in between bringing up her son, Benjamin, and daughter, Katrina. In 1993 her life took another turn when she met her now husband and best friend Peter Day. They appeared regularly together in clubs and hotels in the UK and continued to do so for many years until eventually, they combined their acts, created a new style of show and called themselves Musical Tributes.

Fiona’s voice has developed into many
styles including a fantastic portrayal of 60s to 80s classics, rock & roll, Country and some very interesting tribute sounds to singers such as Connie Francis, Dusty Springfield, Karen Carpenter and Doris Day. Now, her powerful voice, true professionalism and fabulous personality are stunning audiences throughout the UK and Europe.

Peter Day

PeterHaving been around music during the 60s, Peter developed a voice that was able to re-create many of the sounds of that era when, it’s true to say “music changed forever”! Due to business commitments, Peter was unable to follow his love of music even though Fiona had constantly encouraged him to become a professional singer. “She said “you have a voice just like Elvis” and of course, Peter replied “have I”. Then again, so many people think they can sing Elvis! Well, after a couple of years singing at charity events, Fiona finally cajoled him into turning professional. The rest, as they say “is history”!

Peter went to a recording studio in Wisbech where the engineer (and now close friend) Ricko said “where do you normally sing and record”! Peter was very excited and somewhat surprised at the quality of his early recordings and when on to do several albums including one that was released in 2000 by Geranium Music and called “Edge of Reality”. This album (and individual tracks) is still available at major online music stores (simply type Peter Day, Edge of Reality into Google and you will find them). Alternately, the album can be purchased on this site along with others by Peter, Fiona or combinations.

PeterPeter performs a wide range of songs made famous by such greats as Elvis, Cliff Richard, Guy Mitchell, Buddy Holly, Billy Fury, Eden Kane, Rick Nelson, Eddie Cochran, Bobby Darin, John Leyton, Paul Anka, Engelbert Humperdinck, Johnny Cash and many more.

Peter has performed in clubs and hotels across the UK and internationally, including Ireland, Spain and in Hawaii at the Beachcomber Hotel with the late Don Ho.

Peter has a voice that quite incredibly sounds very much like the original artists and audiences everywhere are particularly amazed at his vocal similarity to Billy Fury and Elvis Presley.
